Logging into Opus for the first time:
You will be provided with a login link, usually “yourschoolname.opus1.io/login’. If you see Login With Google and your email address is a Gmail account, you can use Login with Google to access your account. Otherwise, you can use Get A Login Link By Email to receive a link to set a password and login.
If you receive an error in this step, contact your operator/admin so they can look into the email address on file for you. They’ll pull up your profile (if it exists) on their end to verify accuracy of the details.
Set a new password
Once you're logged in, Click the lock icon in the left-hand menu to set a new password for ease of logging in next time!
If you forget your password in the future, no problem! You can always refer back to the ‘Get login link by email’ button to change your password in the future in the event that you forgot your password.
View / Update your profile information
Click the ‘pencil’ icon on the top left of your profile to view / edit your contact information. You can also view your availabilities. In most cases, you'll need to reach out to your administrator to adjust your available/unavailable time slots and other information you see listed in your profile.
Viewing Payroll
Click the dollar bill icon to view your payroll dashboard. You can click on the gray dates below the purple dashboard to filter for specific dates if needed.
The purple dashboard is great for a quick 'at-a-glance' view, or scroll below for a detailed payroll breakdown.
Switch to your client profile
If you are also enrolled as a student with another teacher, there is no need for a second Opus profile if you are both a student and a teacher. The staff side of your profile will display your teaching schedule and allow you to interact with the system as a teacher. On the client side of your profile, you'll see the lessons/classes you're attending as a student, and the system will allow you to interact with Opus as a student would.
To switch to the client side of your profile, click the circle icon with the person inside of it.
Managing your file library
You can conveniently store files related to lesson plans and other essential notes within Opus, making it simple to access and share them when needed. To add files to your account, click the folder icon.
If your administrator enabled the shared file library for staff, you'll be able to access any files that have been shared in the shared files folder.
To share a file, you'd click on the file you wish to share, and then click the 'share file' button to share. You'll select the recipient you want to share the file with, and you'll also have the option to leave a note with the shared the file. When you share your file, the recipient and/or their account manager will receive an email with the file and note, and they'll also be able to access the file and note from their profile when they log in.
Export your opus1.io calendar
Opus allows you to export your schedule to your Apple or Google calendar. For instructions on exporting your schedule, see How to Sync my Opus Calendar to my Apple or Google Calendar
Make and view time off requests
Click the 3 dots on your profile and then click the 'airplane' icon to make or view a request.
Click the '+ New Request' button and enter the applicable details. Click the 'Detailed Scheduled Appointments / Sessions Impact' dropdown menu for details on scheduled appointments / sessions and availability impacted by time-off.
View your upcoming teaching schedule
Scroll down a bit to see the calendar of your upcoming schedule. You can click the small calendar icon in blue to view another month/day, or use the arrows to scroll. On the top right of the view, you can choose if you prefer to view the calendar by month/week/day. You can also 'expand' the calendar if you need more viewing space.
Note: If viewing on a phone, you may find it helpful to turn your phone horizontally for a calendar view.
View your upcoming sessions and email the enrolled clients
To the right of your calendar, you'll see all the active sessions/group classes you teach.
Click 'View Session' to view the roster or email the enrolled students using the 'Message Session Clients' button up top.
Post client comments to your students
Some schools allow their teachers to communicate with their students via Opus using what we call 'Client Comments'. If this feature is enabled by your administrator, you can easily leave a comment for your student that will appear in their profile. Your student and/or their account manager if applicable, can view the comment in their Opus profile. They will also be sent an email with the details of your comment.
