Mailchimp Integration Details

This article is for Opus1io users who need to manage their Mailchimp integration. It explains how the sync process works, how to troubleshoot issues, and offers tips to ensure your contact data is accurate and up-to-date.

Integration Frequency:

  • The synchronization between opus1.io and Mailchimp occurs once every 24 hours.

Setting Up Mailchimp Integration:

  • To set up your Mailchimp integration, you must navigate to Business Settings > Integrations tab. You will need to provide the following information to complete the Mailchimp integration set-up:
    • Mailchimp User ID: your login username for your Mailchimp account
    • Mailchimp API key: for instructions on creating an API key in your Mailchimp account, see their guide here.
    • Mailchimp Audience ID: to find the Audience ID of the target audience for opus1.io synchronization to Mailchimp, see their guide here.
  • Once you have specified the above information, click Update Business to finish. Mailchimp integration will now be enabled and active. 


Troubleshooting Integration Issues:

  • Contacts Not Syncing: If you notice that certain contacts are not synchronizing properly, proceed to the following:
    • Navigate to the 'Integrations' tab within Business Settings.
    • Check for any error messages or notifications to diagnose and resolve the integration issue.

Integration Specifics:

  • Email Requirement: Only individuals with valid email addresses will be synchronized into Mailchimp.
  • Handling Children’s Accounts: As children typically do not have their own email addresses, we will only integrate the Account Manager's email/details into Mailchimp. This is usually the parent's or guardian's contact information.

Understanding Entries in Mailchimp:

  • Unique Email Principle: Each entry in Mailchimp corresponds to a unique email address.
    • For instance, a single email address usually represents one parent.
    • It's important to note that one parent might be associated with multiple children in opus1.io.
  • Checking Synchronization:
    • If you want to confirm if a particular account has been synchronized to your MailChimp audience, first identify a client account that has been added recently in opus1.io.
    • Search for that specific email address in Mailchimp.
    • If your settings are correctly configured, you should be able to find the email entry in Mailchimp.

Tips:

  • It's always a good practice to regularly verify a few random entries in Mailchimp to ensure that the sync process is functioning as expected.
