[Teacher Tools & Access](https://kb.opus1.io/staff?hsLang=en#teacher-tools-access) # How to let teachers take attendance ## Enabling Teachers (Limited Staff) to Take Attendance for their own lessons When you add a new 'limited staff' member (usually teachers) to your Staff in Opus1,  the setting that allows them to take their own attendance is disabled by default. To enable Staff to take their own attendance: - Search for the Staff member or locate them in the  **Staff \> All Staff** menu. - On the staff profile, click the edit pencil near the top left of their profile. - On the **Edit Staff** page locate the setting switch **Can take attendance for own appointments/group classes** and toggle it to **ON**. - Click the **Update Staff** button to confirm the change. This setting only allows the limited staff member to take attendance for their own appointment and group class only. **Note that attendance can only be taken after, or up to an hour before the appointment.**   -
