How do I issue gift cards to clients?

A walkthrough of issuing gift cards to clients, the gift cards interface, and redeeming gift cards as a client.


Feature Summary:

  • Allows businesses to sell clients gift cards and issue gift cards without charging clients, e.g. for charity
  • Allows clients to self-book using their gift card via emailed link or scanned QR code
  • Once a gift card has been used, any remaining balance is added to the payer's account as a monetary credit
  • Today, using unredeemed gift cards at admin booking is not supported

How To Issue Gift Cards

To issue gift cards for your business, navigate to Clients > Gift Cards, then click Issue Gift Card. Then, fill in the details of the gift card. 



Note: the Issue by business toggle may be enabled if you are issuing a gift card but not charging any client for the gift card amount, e.g. charity events. 

Once you have completed the details of your gift card, click PAY AND SEND BY EMAIL or PAY AND SAVE AS PDF to charge the client and complete the issuance of the gift card. You can always re-send the email or generate another PDF of the gift card later. 

Using Gift Cards

Gift card recipients may redeem their gift cards at a specified self-booking link by clicking the link included in the notification email (if sent) or by scanning the QR code on the gift card PDF. 

Once the gift card has been used via self-booking, any remaining balance on the gift card is transferred to the payer's account as a monetary credit.

Updating Existing Gift Cards

If you wish to update the details of a previously issued gift card, click the Update button for that gift card. 



Here, you can change the recipient name, email address, self-booking link to which the gift card applies, the included custom message, or expiration date of the gift card. If any of the details of the gift card are updated, you will be prompted to resend the gift card notification email.  



Here is an example of the email send to the gift card recipient when gift cards are sent via email or updated. 



Once a gift card has been issued, it may be suspended. Suspended gift cards are not useable by the recipient until they are reactivated. To suspend a gift card, click the SUSPEND button. 

To reactivate it, making the value useable again, click Activate on a suspended gift card. 



NOTE: gift cards cannot be suspended once they have been redeemed.
