Voice Best Practices

  • Ensure your browser is authorized to use your selected microphone.
  • If using Safari, ensure that no pop-ups are being blocked by your browser.
  • You will want to ensure that your device has the microphone and speaker you intend to use with Opus1 Voice set as the default at the device level.
  • How to configure audio devices:
    • Open the "Audio settings" section in the Opus1 Voice interface.

    • Click the Microphone or Speaker row to open the device list.

    • Select a device from the list, or choose "System default" to use your system's default.

    • Your selections are saved and persist across sessions.

    • Use the "Test" button to verify your microphone (shows a waveform) or speaker (plays a test tone) before making calls.

    • Microphone selection is locked during active calls, change it before or after a call.

  • Administrators are often working in multiple tabs. To avoid call interruptions when switching from tab to tab, we recommend setting your default microphone / speaker for Opus1 Voice in a single tab and then leaving microphone / speaker as DEFAULT in other tabs to ensure consistency when switching between tabs on a live call.
  • Disable or unplug any additional microphones not being used for calls. Desktop computers may have multiple microphone inputs enabled simultaneously (built-in microphones, webcam microphones, headset microphones). Having multiple microphones active can cause audio conflicts and call quality issues. Check your computer's sound settings and disable any microphones you're not actively using for Opus1 Voice.
  • When troubleshooting errors with the Opus1 team, please show us your console logs in any screen recordings you take. You can learn how to see your console logs in this video tutorial.
